Set up a sending domain & deliverability

SwiftFox sends email from your own domain (for example you@yourdomain.com) rather than a generic address. Verifying at least one domain is required before you can send at all — see Verification is required to send below — and it also reduces the chance of being flagged as spam and improves legitimacy and deliverability.

Add a sending domain

1. Go to Settings → Communications → Email settings.
2. Under Add and manage email domains, click Add Domain.
3. Enter your domain. SwiftFox generates a set of DNS records.
4. Copy the DNS records and add them to your domain host (wherever your domain's DNS is managed).
5. Wait for verification. Once verified, the domain becomes available to select as the sending domain in a campaign's Recipients step (under Your campaign details).

A domain that has not finished verifying shows One or more sub-components are not verified above a table of the DNS records it is still waiting on, with the error for each. Use Verify to re-check once you have corrected the records with your domain host.

Verification is required to send

SwiftFox checks the From address against your verified domains before handing an email to the mail provider, and stops the send itself if it does not match.

• If your account has no verified domain configured, sending fails with No valid email domains configured - cannot determine a sender email address.
• If a fallback sender address is used and it is not on a verified domain, sending fails with The configured fallback email must use a verified email domain.

Both checks happen before the email leaves SwiftFox, so a campaign stops with one of these messages rather than being rejected by the mail provider later. This applies to campaigns, personalised sends and individual emails alike — so finishing domain verification is a prerequisite for sending at all, not just a deliverability improvement.

Notes

• If you have only one verified domain, it's auto-selected in the builder.
• A verified domain is also what earns recipient trust and the best deliverability, not only what makes sending possible.
