Audit logs give you a full history of changes made to records in your account — useful for governance, accountability and troubleshooting. This guide covers the system-wide Audit logs page under Settings → Users & access. Each contact also has its own activity log, reached from the quick actions on their profile — that is documented in Quick actions on a profile.

What the system-wide log records

Each entry on the Audit logs page captures the detail of a change. Columns include:

  • Date — when the change was made.
  • User — who made the change.
  • Circle — the Circle the activity relates to.
  • Activity Type — the kind of action performed.
  • Affected Record — the profile or item that changed.
  • Relates To — a related record, where applicable.
  • Field — the specific field that was edited.
  • Old Value — the value before the change.
  • New Value — the value after the change.

The per-contact activity log shows a slightly different set of columns — see Quick actions on a profile.

View and filter the system-wide audit log

  1. Go to Settings → Users & access → Audit logs.
  2. Use the Search box to find text across the columns.
  3. Apply Filters (for example by date or by affected record) to narrow the results.
  4. Sort columns to order entries (for example most recent first).
  5. Hide or pin columns to focus on the fields you care about.

The per-contact activity log

Each contact also has its own activity log, opened with the View activity log quick action beside the business card on their profile. The route, its columns and how to search, filter and sort it are documented in Quick actions on a profile.

A note on naming. Audit logs is the product's label for the account-wide page under Settings → Users & access. The per-contact view is called the activity log — that is the label on the quick action and on the panel it opens, and it is the term to use in customer-facing writing when referring to it. Both describe the same kind of history at different scopes.

Permissions

Access to Audit logs requires the appropriate permission on one of your user groups. If you cannot see the Audit logs page or the per-profile View activity log quick action, ask your system administrator to grant access.

Notes

  • The audit history is a record of provenance — it is read-only and intended for review, not editing.
  • Use the per-contact activity log when investigating a specific record, and the system-wide Audit logs page when reviewing activity across the account.
