You know what they say money talks and in SwiftFox it also processes the platform, integrates with the big payment providers and handles manual options to whether you prefer stripe or a good old fashioned cheque, we've got you covered. In this lesson, we'll set up payment methods in SwiftFox, both payment providers and manual options. So let's jump into it.

Open settings and search for payment methods. You land on a table of your existing payment methods. If you haven't set many up yet, then there won't be really much to look at here, but not for long. Don't worry.

Select add payment method and a drawer opens. First choose a payment type; cash, cheque, credit card, direct debit, one time payment or payroll deduction.

Then pick the provider underneath it. Only the providers we support for that type will show up, so it's worth looking rather than assuming. A gateway you use for cards isn't necessarily available for direct debit, we add providers regularly, so what you see here is always the current list you can set up as many as you like.

Cash is worth a closer look because it does more than the name suggests. Pick cash and there's only one provider to choose since no gateway is involved. The useful part is the display name.

Most organisations take money in several manual ways, so they add a cash method for each and rename it, ending up with separate BPAY, bank transfer, EFT, and money order options wherever they record a payment. Underneath, they're all cash, but the labels are what keep them apart in your records and in your reporting.

Once you've chosen SwiftFox fills in a display name for you. For example, Stripe - Credit Card. Rename it to whatever makes sense for your team. It's what appears in your payment and methods table. And when you're taking a payment.

For a live gateway, SwiftFox then shows the credential fields for the provider you picked. These vary by provider. Stripe needs a secret key and a publishable key. NAB Transact needs a merchant ID environment and transaction password. PayPal needs a client ID environment and secret key, so fill in the details for your chosen provider. Select create to save it. Your new method appears in the table showing its name, method, and provider, and you can edit the provider details at any time something changes.

One thing to note you can't delete a payment method, but you can pause it. Switch off. Allow this payment method for new payments and it shows as paused in the new payments column.

It's worth offering a few options, usually at least one live provider, plus any manual methods your organisation uses. The more you offer the more flexibility you'll have when it comes time to take payment.
