The Texts feature lets your account send and manage SMS (text messages) to your Contacts directly within SwiftFox. It supports bulk SMS campaigns to lists of Contacts, individual one-to-one messages sent from a Contact's profile, and two-way replies so inbound texts can be read and answered in SwiftFox.
What the feature does
- Bulk SMS campaigns — build and send a text message to a list of Contacts using the Bulk SMS Sender, with merge fields personalisation, fallback values, an opt-out method and per-recipient delivery reporting.
- Individual text messages — send a one-off text to a single Contact using the Send text quick action on their profile, and reply to their messages.
- Two-way replies — read and respond to inbound texts, either from the Texts Inbox or from the Contact's profile, keeping the full conversation in one place. In the Inbox, select the row to open a conversation with a reply box; the eye icon on the row opens the same conversation alongside its Tasks and Comments tabs, and is read-only.
Where it lives
- Open Texts from the left-hand menu. The Texts landing page has two views, toggled at the top right:
- Inbox — the default view, listing text conversations for managing inbound replies (recipient name and number, reply status, sentiment, stakeholder leader and latest activity). A Hide Non-responses toggle limits the list to conversations that have replies. Conversations are grouped by mobile number rather than by Contact (see Texts Inbox — reading and replying to messages).
- Campaigns — the list of bulk SMS campaigns (campaign name, status, scheduled time, recipient list and who created it).
- Individual messages and conversation history also appear on each Contact's profile, via the Send text quick action.
- Access to each capability is governed by permissions configured per User Group in Settings (see Text message permissions for user groups).
How it relates to the Communications Wallet
Text messages are a paid send. The cost of each message is funded from your account's Communications Wallet, the shared credit balance SwiftFox draws on for chargeable communications. Keep the wallet topped up so campaigns and individual messages can send. Longer messages — including those made longer by merge fields content — use more SMS units and consume more credit (see Using merge fields in text messages).
How it relates to Settings
Who can send bulk campaigns, view individual conversations and send individual messages is controlled by per-User-Group permission toggles in Settings → Users & access → User groups (see Text message permissions for user groups). The sender number used for a send (for example "SwiftFox Mobile") is chosen in the campaign's Compose step.
