Members can manage their own accreditation through the member portal (the front-end website). What they can do is controlled by admin permissions set in Umbraco, including whether their submissions need approval.

What members can do

When a member logs into the portal and opens the Accreditation page (labelled Accreditation, Goals or CPD, matching your account), they can:

  • View their accreditations and full activity history.
  • Add Activity — submit a new activity (if permitted).
  • Edit an existing activity (if permitted).
  • Delete an activity (if permitted).
  • Export their own activity table (if permitted).

Which of these are available depends on the permissions an administrator has set.

How submissions are handled

  • If auto-approval is enabled, a member's submitted activity applies to their accreditation immediately.
  • If auto-approval is off, the submission carries a pending status until an administrator reviews and approves it before it counts (see The Accreditation Action Centre).

Controlling permissions in Umbraco

Administrators control the portal behaviour through the relevant Accreditation block's settings:

  1. In Umbraco, open the relevant Accreditation block.
  2. Open its Settings.
  3. Toggle the permissions you want: - Allow Add — whether members can submit new activities. - Auto-Approve — whether submissions apply automatically or require approval. - Allow Edit / Delete — whether members can change or remove their activities.

Save the settings; the changes apply to the portal page.

Tips

  • For programs that require evidence, keep Auto-Approve off so every submission is reviewed against its attachment before it counts.
  • Encourage members to attach a document when adding an activity so approval is straightforward.
  • Keep member-facing instructions consistent with whatever label (Accreditation / Goals / CPD) your account uses.
