SwiftFox Maps lets you visualise records from your Contacts on an interactive map so you can carry out location-based analysis. It draws its data from List Builder criteria — either People or Organisation records — and plots each qualifying record at its geocoded location. You can also overlay built-in reference datasets and load a map file of your own.
Where to find it
Maps lives in the Maps section of the left menu. Opening it takes you to the Maps landing page, where you start a new map, add data layers, or add a map you saved earlier.
What you can do with Maps
- Plot People or Organisation records on a map from any List Builder criteria.
- Add multiple data layers and overlay them, each with its own name, point colour and criteria.
- Overlay built-in census and demographic datasets for Australia and New Zealand.
- Load your own KML, GeoJSON or CSV file to view alongside your records.
- Click a marker to see a summary card and open the record's full profile.
- Show or hide each layer, adjust its opacity, and zoom the map to a layer's extent.
- Save a configured map as a data workspace and add it to a map again later.
- Capture the current map view as an image.
How Maps gets its data
Maps does not have a data set of its own — it reads from List Builder. When you add a layer you build List Builder criteria, and every record that matches the criteria and has geographic coordinates is plotted as a coloured dot.
Key concept: only records with coordinates appear
A record is shown on the map only if its address has been geocoded — resolved to a set of geographic coordinates. Records without coordinates will not appear, even when they match your List Builder criteria. The most common reason is simply that the record has no address recorded. Filtering by area instead
If what you want is a list of contacts inside a geographic area rather than a map of them, use Boundary Selection in List Builder — it lets you select predefined boundaries or draw your own shapes. See Boundary Selection on Maps (predefined boundaries and custom polygons/circles).
