On anniversary plans you can choose how period boundaries are calculated. This controls when each period (and therefore each invoice and charge) renews. The choice matters most for fortnightly, monthly and quarterly subscriptions.
Anniversary Default vs Anniversary Rounded
- Anniversary Default renews on the same day each interval, based on the member's join date. If a member joins on a Wednesday, fortnightly periods always renew on a Wednesday; monthly periods always renew on the 17th if they joined on the 17th.
- Anniversary Rounded aligns the period to a calendar boundary (start of month, a fixed fortnight, etc.) rather than the join date. Anniversary Rounded has two sub-options: Fixed Rounded and Rolling Rounded.
Fixed Rounded
Fixed Rounded always aligns periods to the standard calendar.
- Quarters are always Jan–Mar, Apr–Jun, Jul–Sep, Oct–Dec.
- Fortnights align to a fixed reference fortnight.
- A member joining mid-February on a quarterly plan is placed in the Jan–Mar quarter.
Use Fixed Rounded when members should renew on a fixed, company-wide day (for example every Thursday).
Rolling Rounded
Rolling Rounded offsets periods by the member's join month.
- A member joining in February starts a Feb–Apr quarter, with subsequent quarters running May–Jul, Aug–Oct, and so on.
- Months and fortnights are offset the same way.
Use Rolling Rounded when quarters or months should follow the join month rather than the standard calendar.
Which should I choose?
- Anniversary Rounded → Fixed Rounded — members renew on a fixed company-wide day (e.g. every Thursday).
- Anniversary Default — members renew based on their own join date.
- Anniversary Rounded → Rolling Rounded — quarters or months should follow the join month rather than the calendar.
Notes
- Fortnightly subscriptions are the most common place where this setting matters.
- Weekly subscriptions always start on Mondays regardless of the setting.
- The period type applies to anniversary plans and is chosen when creating the subscription (see Subscriptions: creating & configuring); it can also be overridden at fee level using Override plan type in the fee's Additional settings.
