How the Communications Wallet behaves depends on whether your account uses Circles and, if so, how those Circles are configured. There are three models.
Account-wide wallet (no Circles)
If your account does not use Circles, it automatically has a single account-wide wallet. All usage, top-ups, cards and transactions are shared across the account.
Wallet per Circle
When Circles are enabled, each Circle can have its own independent wallet. In this configuration:
- Each Circle has its own balance, cards and saved payment methods.
- Top-ups, auto top-up settings and transactions are isolated per Circle.
- Receipts and invoices are generated against the Circle's linked organisation.
The wallet page for each Circle looks the same as an account-wide wallet, but only shows data for that Circle. Make sure the correct Circle is selected before topping up or managing cards.
Shared global wallet
Alternatively, Circles can be configured to share a single global account wallet. In this model:
- All Circles see the same balance, cards and transactions.
- Any top-up from any Circle funds the shared wallet.
- Monthly and Daily Summaries are identical across all Circles.
- Receipts and invoices are generated against the account-level organisation.
Choosing and changing the model
The choice between per-Circle and shared wallets is configured by SwiftFox. Circle wallet configuration is managed in the Circle config using the wallet organisation ID, which corresponds to your organisation record in production.
If your balance differs from another Circle and you expected it to be shared, your Circles may not be configured to share a global wallet. Contact SwiftFox Support if you need to change which model your account uses.
