With the new Merge Tool you can now find and merge duplicate contact records without needing to lodge a support request. Let's dive in and show you how it works.

Head to a contact's profile and select the Merge Profile icon from the Quick Actions.

Next, search for the duplicate contact you want to merge with this one. Then choose which contact you want to keep as the primary profile. This is the main record that will remain. When you click merge, the second contact will be merged with the main one.

So what actually happens behind the scenes? All data from the duplicate profile moves into the primary profile and the duplicate profile is permanently deleted.

Here's what gets merged. Primary contact details; If both profiles have primary details, the profile that is sent to primary are kept. Phone numbers, emails, and addresses. Any unique details from the duplicate profile get added to the primary profile. Custom fields; If the primary profile already has a value, it stays the same. If it's empty and the duplicate hasn't value, that value is added.

Other important data including subscriptions, invoices, receipts, posts, and form responses all move across to the main contact.
