Whenever SwiftFox processes a payment for you like a membership renewal or a ticket purchase, SwiftFox securely communicates with your payment provider.

A payment provider is simply the company that moves money from your supporters credit card or bank account into your organisation's account. Common examples include Stripe, Eway, Fat Zebra, and BPoint.

SwiftFox handles your membership cycles, schedules, reminders, and reporting while your payment provider handles the actual transfer of funds. For example, if SwiftFox knows that a member's subscription renews on Thursday, SwiftFox will tell your payment provider to process the $5 charge for that member on that date. Once processed, the payment provider settles the funds into your bank account to allow this communication to happen.

SwiftFox requires a secure set of keys from your payment provider. These are often called API keys or Secret keys. Every organisation has their own set of keys and they are unique, confidential, and tied to your payment provider account.

Finding your payment gateway keys is simple. You can normally access them from your payment provider's dashboard. Each provider labels them slightly differently, but they're always easy to locate. If you get stuck, you can check the providers help guides or contact their support team.

Once you have your keys, upload them to the secure SharePoint folder provided to you by the SwiftFox onboarding team. Never send these keys over email. They are sensitive credentials that allow access to payment functions.
