Start by heading to Automations. Select create automation and give it a meaningful name like “New Member, welcome SMS” and select update. Next, add a trigger by selecting trigger automation. For this example, we'll use form submission for when someone completes your membership form. Select your membership form as the trigger. Make sure this form captures the member's name and mobile number. We can't welcome them without their contact details.

Once your trigger is set, select add an action and choose send SMS. Now let's craft your welcome message. For the target choose Form Respondent to text your new member directly. For the sender, select the number they'll recognise, If you have more than one. Now create your welcome message here. Use merge fields like first name to make it personal. “Welcome to the movement @First Name! Thanks for joining us. Your membership pack is on its way! Stay tuned for updates!”. Don't forget to include an unsubscribe option.

Oh, and this is very important. If you've used merge fields, make sure to set a fallback. If you don't set a fallback, no name will appear, making it less personalised. Once you're happy, select add action.
