You create Posts from the post composer at the top of the SwiftFox Activity Feed widget. A single Post can carry text, a date and time, view permissions, @mentions, attachments, addresses, and tags.
Before you start
Make sure the SwiftFox Activity Feed widget is on your homepage. If it isn't, click Add widget (bottom-right of the homepage) and add SwiftFox Activity Feed.
Step-by-step
- In the SwiftFox Activity Feed widget, click into the post composer (the "Write your post" box) at the top of the feed.
- Set the date and time if needed. The Post defaults to the current date and time (shown as DD/MM/YYYY hh:mm); use the calendar picker to back-date a note or record when something actually happened.
- Set who can see the Post. Click the audience control — the globe labelled Everyone — to open the Edit permissions panel. Choose a preset (Everyone, Current Circle, or Only me), or grant access to specific Users, User groups, or Circles, each at an access level of View only or Full Access, then click Apply. Leave it on Everyone to share with all users in your account.
- Type your post text in the composer.
- Tag Contacts by typing @ followed by a name, then selecting from People, Users, or Organisations. See Tagging Contacts in posts for what each tag does.
- (Optional) Add attachments. Click the attachment (paperclip) icon to upload one or more files, or drag and drop files onto the composer. Supported attachments include Office documents — Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx) and PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) — and saved emails (.msg, .eml), alongside the file types already supported such as images and PDFs.
- (Optional) Add an address. Click the address (location) icon to attach a location to the Post.
- (Optional) Apply tags. Click Add new tag to apply a tag from your pre-configured list. Tags make the Post filterable in the feed, in Lists (List Builder), and in a Posts action centre.
- Click Post to publish it to the Activity Feed.
The composer options in detail
- Date / time — controls the timestamp shown on the Post and its position in the chronological feed. Defaults to now; use the calendar picker to log past interactions.
- Audience (Edit permissions) — the audience control (globe) defaults to Everyone. Opening it reveals the Edit permissions panel, with presets Everyone, Current Circle, and Only me, plus the option to add named Users, User groups, or Circles at View only or Full Access.
- Text — the body of the Post; supports @mentions inline.
- @mentions — type @ and a name to tag a Person, User, or Organisation. Tagging a User notifies them and places the Post on their profile.
- Attachment — uploads files (or drag and drop) that recipients can download from the Post. Supported types include images and PDFs, Office documents (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx) and saved emails (.msg, .eml).
- Address — attaches a location to the Post.
- Add new tag — applies a tag from the list configured in settings, for classification and filtering.
After posting
Once the Post is live it appears at the appropriate position in the feed (based on its date/time) and on the Posts tab of any Contact you @mentioned. You and other permitted users can then react, comment, create a Task from it, or edit and delete it. See Interacting with posts and Moderating posts.
