You can tag Contacts directly inside a Post using @mentions. Tagging links the Post to that Contact, surfaces it on their profile, and — for Users — sends them a notification.
How to @mention a Contact
- In the post composer, type @ where you want the mention to appear.
- Start typing the Contact's name. SwiftFox suggests matches across three types.
- Choose the correct match from one of:
- People — an individual Contact record.
- Users — a SwiftFox user (a colleague with an account login).
- Organisations — an organisation record.
- The mention is inserted into the Post text. You can add multiple @mentions to a single Post.
- Finish composing and click Post.
What each mention does
- Tagging a Person or Organisation links the Post to that Contact and adds it to the Posts tab on their profile, building a running history on the record.
- Tagging a User does the same on their profile and triggers a notification for that User (shown in the top-right notifications area, and in the Notifications widget if it is on their homepage). Use this to draw a colleague's attention to a Post.
Notifications
When a User is @mentioned in a Post:
- A notification appears in the top-right notifications area of SwiftFox.
- The same mention surfaces in the Notifications widget if that User has it on a homepage.
- The Post is added to the Posts tab on that User's profile.
Notifications also cover related events such as comment tags (being mentioned in a comment on a Post), so a tagged User is kept in the loop on the conversation.
Where tagged Posts appear
Every @mention places the Post on the Posts tab of the mentioned Contact's profile, so anyone viewing that record sees the relevant activity in one place. This is the main way Posts build a timeline against People, Users, and Organisations.
