027-01 Create a Visit list
Things have changed
00:00:04:02 - 00:00:13:35
Field visits helps you plan on-foot visiting runs directly from SwiftFox. Think of it as your clipboard and street map rolled into one digital companion.
00:00:13:41 - 00:00:26:35
In this lesson, we'll build a tidy visit list, attach the right survey, and get you ready to head out the door with confidence. Let's do it!
00:00:26:39 - 00:00:38:31
Locate visits in the feature menu. If you can't see visits in your menu, ask your admin to enable it and check your permissions. Let's imagine you're planning a Saturday morning doorknock in the northern suburbs.
00:00:38:35 - 00:00:50:44
First you select create visit list. Enter a clear visit name something like “Northside Saturday Doorknock” works perfectly and be specific so your team can find this run later.
00:00:50:48 - 00:01:17:19
Next, select the survey form that you will use at the door. A small preview appears so you can double check the questions. This matters because when you complete the survey at someone's door, it marks that address as complete. Creates a post on their profile and logs the entire interaction. It's all connected, which is rather brilliant if you ask me. Select next.
00:01:17:23 - 00:01:29:23
Now you'll choose one or more address types for this visit. Most doorknocks use Street address. However, you can leave this blank if you don't want to be restricted by type, but we find it helpful to stay focused.
00:01:29:27 - 00:01:35:40
There's also an optional checkbox for primary address only, which creates one address per contact.
00:01:35:44 - 00:01:47:43
For our example, we'll take this box because it reduces, duplicates and saves us from knocking on the same door twice, which can get awkward.
00:01:47:47 - 00:02:15:14
This is where you decide who gets a knock on the door. You can add any fixed or live list as well as individual contacts for our Northside run. Let's say we've already built a list in List Builder called “Northside Prospects”, a live list from an area we drew on a map in List Builder. We'll select that from the dropdown, and suddenly we have a set of contacts and addresses ready to go.
00:02:15:18 - 00:02:28:30
Select next and you're at the final step. You'll confirm your visit, survey and total number of locations. Everything should look familiar because you just built it, but it's worth a final glance to catch any surprises.
00:02:28:34 - 00:02:37:09
When you're ready, select Finalise list to lock it in and start your visiting run. If you're not quite ready, save and close and come back later.
00:02:37:13 - 00:02:48:24
After finalising, you can open the visit any time from the main visit screen by selecting the name you've now created, a field ready visit list with the right survey and audience.
00:02:48:28 - 00:03:00:00
When you finalise and head out to knock on doors, SwiftFox will handle all of the logging and the reporting behind the scenes while you focus on having real conversations with real people.
00:03:00:04 - 00:03:05:11
Thanks for following along. Be sure to check out the next lesson on conducting visits. See you then!
