Posts aren't just a feed to read — once they carry tags they become data you can segment and act on through Lists (the List Builder) and a Posts action centre you set up. This turns the Activity Feed into a source for targeted follow-up.
The role of tags
The connection runs through tags. When you apply a tag to a Post (via Add new tag in the composer), that Post becomes filterable and segmentable. Without tags, Posts are still readable in the feed but harder to pull into a targeted list. See Post tags and hashtags.
Segmenting Posts in List Builder
Lists (List Builder) lets you build criteria-based lists across your data. With tagged Posts you can:
- Filter or segment by tag to find every Post (and the related Contacts) on a given topic.
- Combine Post criteria with other List Builder criteria to build precise lists of People or Organisations.
- Filter on post custom fields: under Add criteria → Posts your post custom fields appear alongside the standard options (tag, created date, created by), so you can segment by the structured data captured on Posts. See Posts — Custom fields.
This is the same List Builder used elsewhere in SwiftFox, so Post-based segments can feed into the wider workflows that consume lists.
A Posts action centre
The Action Centre hosts operational lists where you review records and take action in bulk. Action centres aren't fixed defaults — each account configures its own. You can set up a Posts action centre (a Posts-based list) to:
- Surface Posts by tag for review and follow-up.
- Take action on the Contacts associated with tagged Posts.
- Add post custom fields as columns (on the builder's Columns step, via Add column) for greater oversight; these columns can be filtered and included in CSV exports.
If your account has one configured, you'll find it by name under Action Centre.
Putting it together — a typical flow
- Apply a consistent tag to relevant Posts as you create them.
- Use Lists (List Builder), or a Posts action centre if you've set one up, to pull every Post carrying that tag.
- Review the resulting set and take follow-up action on the associated Contacts.
Best practice
- Decide your tags up front so the segments you'll want later actually exist.
- Keep tags consistent across the team — segmentation is only as good as the tagging behind it.
- Tag at the time of posting rather than retro-tagging, so nothing slips through the filter.
