Spotlight: Custom Boundaries
Things have changed
00:00:00:04 - 00:00:19:18
Hey everyone, it's Adi from SwiftFox. As we put the final touches on a new list feature, we wanted to preview one of the most exciting new additions. The ability to draw a custom boundary on a map to find people within that boundary and see a list results visually on a map. Let me show you how it works.
00:00:19:22 - 00:00:44:02
I've created a new list and I'm on the condition step. I'll add a new criteria and look for custom map. I can choose whether I want to look for postal or street addresses, then click New Selection. This will open up a map where you can draw your own area. You'll see two drawing options. Circle - this lets you draw a radius around a point and Polygon - this lets you draw custom shapes.
00:00:44:06 - 00:01:03:02
Let's start with the polygon. I'll look up a suburb. Let's go with Cremorne. Once I select it, the map centres on that area. Now I can click to start drawing my shape. As I move around the map, I can click to add points. When I get close to the start of the shape, it will snap in to complete the loop.
00:01:03:06 - 00:01:15:12
Once that's done, I can give this boundary a name. You can repeat this to draw multiple boundaries, and again they'll snap into place if you want to make them adjacent.
00:01:15:16 - 00:01:32:11
You can also use the circle option. Just drop a pin and set a radius. Once you're happy with your radius, you can give this new selection a name and then click Save Selection. At any point, if you need to tweak this. You can always select the map button to reopen the selection.
00:01:32:15 - 00:01:45:06
Depending on your tenant configuration. There are also a number of predefined boundaries you can select on a map in a similar way, such as LGAs. Select your options. Open the map and click to start populating a list of boundaries.
00:01:45:10 - 00:01:59:47
Similar to before, you can give this a name and then save. Once you've saved your boundaries, select next to save the results. This will show you everyone who fits the criteria within those areas. You can then switch to the map for you to see them visually.
00:02:00:01 - 00:02:29:04
Instead of thousands of individual dots, we've grouped into clusters. This makes it easier to see the density in different areas. You can click into a dot to zoom in and see more detail. Each time you zoom in, the clusters break into smaller ones until you see individual people. When you click a small cluster or a single dot, you'll see a pop up with the people in that area, or if it's a large group in a single address, you'll see a table. From here you can even click through to view someone's profile.
00:02:29:08 - 00:02:39:44
This view isn't limited to just boundaries either. You can build any list, say financial members in a specific industry, and then click the map tab to see where they're located.
00:02:39:48 - 00:02:46:32
We can't wait to see you use this one. Thanks for watching! And for a more in-depth look at our features. Head to the SwiftFox Academy.
