Action Centres — Areas & sections

Organise Action Centres by creating areas, adding icons, custom URLs and nesting sections for tidy workflow

ID:
162

Action Centres are organised into areas and sections. Areas are the top-level groupings shown in the left sidebar (each with its own icon and URL path), and sections are folders inside an area that group related Action Centres together. This structure keeps large numbers of Action Centres tidy and easy to navigate.

Areas (sidebar structure)

An area is a top-level Action Centre grouping. Each area:

  • Appears as an item in the left sidebar.
  • Appears as a tab along the top navigation of the Action Centres screen.
  • Has a searchable icon chosen from SwiftFox's icon library.
  • Has a Path (URL) that forms the address used to reach the area.

Use areas to separate broad domains of work — for example a finance area, a membership area, and a cases area — so each team lands in the right place.

Creating and managing areas

To create an area:

  1. Go to Features → Action Centres.
  2. Click Manage Areas (top-right of the tabs).
  3. Click Add Area.
  4. Enter the Area Name.
  5. Choose an Icon from the searchable icon pool.
  6. Set the Path (URL) for the area.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Refresh the page — the new area now appears in the left sidebar and in the top navigation of the Action Centres screen.

You manage existing areas from the same Manage Areas dialog, where you can edit an area's name, icon, or path.

Sections (folders within an area)

Inside each area, Action Centres are grouped into sections (folders). Sections let you cluster related Action Centres — for example grouping all receipt-related Action Centres in one section and all invoice-related ones in another.

  • Open a section/folder within an area to see the Action Centres it contains.
  • A section can be selected from existing sections, or created on the fly by typing a new section name when you create or move an Action Centre.

Organising existing Action Centres

From within an area, each Action Centre offers the following actions:

  • Edit — change the Action Centre's settings, name, icon, area or section.
  • Move to new section — relocate the Action Centre into a different (or new) section.
  • Archive — remove the Action Centre from active use while retaining it.

Icons and URL paths

  • Icons are selected from a searchable library, both for areas and for individual Action Centres, giving the sidebar a clear visual structure.
  • URL paths are set per area when you add or edit the area. The path becomes part of the address used to navigate to that area's Action Centres.
