Question blocks (types, Data Table & conditional logic)

Question blocks capture moment-in-time responses. Unlike the Add/Update Contact block, a Question block records the answer against the submission but does not update profile fields on the contact.

Drag a Question block onto the canvas, then choose its type and configure its options.

Question types

When you add a Question block, choose a type:

• Text — free-text answer. Set the Display type (for example a single line or Text area), and optionally turn on Limit Character Length.
• Single Choice — respondent picks one option from a predefined list.
• Single Choice (with other) — single choice plus a free-text "Other" option.
• Multi Choice — respondent picks multiple options.
• Multi Choice (with other) — multi choice plus a free-text "Other" option.
• Single Choice Rating — a rating scale.
• Date — a date input.
• Number — a numeric input.
• Mobile — a mobile number input.
• Email — an email input.
• Phone — a phone number input.
• Address — an address input.
• Matrix Scale Choice — a matrix/grid where each row is rated against a common scale.
• Data Table — a structured table with defined columns and respondent-added rows (see below).

Answer lists for choice types

For Single Choice and Multi Choice types, build the answer list by adding each option respondents can select.

Per-question options

Every Question block supports these options:

• Required — make an answer mandatory.
• Label — the question text shown to respondents.
• Description — supporting/help text under the question (the Describe the question field).
• Hide Question — hide the question.
• Display type — for supported types (such as Text), choose how the input is shown.
• Set default value for this block — pre-fill a default answer (see Setting default answers on form questions).
• Conditional settings — show the question only when a prior question meets a specified condition (see below).
• Advanced options — additional per-question settings.

Data Table

The Data Table type lets respondents enter multiple rows of structured data (for example, several qualifications):

1. Add a Data Table question.
2. Define the columns for the table.
3. Give each column a label.
4. Configure per-column options:
   • Required — make the column mandatory.
   • Number — treat the column's input as numeric.
   • Delete — remove a column.
5. When completing the form, the respondent can add flexible rows as needed.

Conditional Settings (conditional logic)

Use Conditional Settings to show a question only when a previous answer meets a condition:

1. Open the question's Conditional Settings.
2. Choose the trigger question (a prior question on the form).
3. Define the operator/value that must be met.
4. The follow-up question appears only when that condition is satisfied.

This keeps forms shorter by revealing follow-up questions only when they are relevant.
