Before you can insert SwiftFox data into a Word document, you need to install the SwiftFox Templates add-in in Microsoft Word and sign in to your SwiftFox account. You only need to do this once per device.
Install the add-in
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and choose Add-ins (sometimes labelled Get Add-ins or Office Add-ins).
- In the add-ins window, search for SwiftFox.
- Locate SwiftFox Templates in the results and click Add.
- Open the add-in. It appears as a pane docked to the right-hand side of the Word window.
- In the right-hand SwiftFox Templates pane, click to log in.
- Enter your SwiftFox credentials to sign in to your account.
- Once signed in, the pane connects to your account and loads the fields available to you, ready to insert into your document.
What you'll see once you're signed in
- The pane displays the Merge field dropdown, listing every field available to your account.
- These include default contact details, finance fields, and any custom fields you have created.
- The pane also lets you choose the field type — Template field or Mail merge field — before you insert.
Tips
- Keep the pane open while you design so you can insert fields at any point.
- If the fields don't appear, confirm you are signed in to the correct SwiftFox account.
- Sign-in is tied to your account, so the fields you see reflect what that account has configured.
With the add-in installed and signed in, you are ready to design your document and insert fields — see Template field vs mail merge field and Inserting mail merge fields.
