Gmail add-in (turn emails into posts)

The SwiftFox add-in for Gmail lets you turn an email into a post in SwiftFox without leaving your inbox. It captures the sender's details, the date and the email content, records them as a post against the contact in SwiftFox, and can attach the email body. From there your team can add comments or create tasks off the post.

This is the Gmail counterpart to the Outlook plugin. If you use Outlook instead, see Integrations — Outlook plugin (turn emails into posts).

Installing the add-in

You only need to do this once.

1. In Gmail, select the + (Get add-ons) on the right-hand side panel, under your apps.
2. This opens the Google Workspace Marketplace.
3. Search for SwiftFox and select Install.
4. Follow the prompts to grant the permissions the add-in needs.
5. Once installed, the SwiftFox icon appears in the right-hand sidebar of Gmail for easy access.

Signing in

1. Select the SwiftFox icon in the right-hand sidebar.
2. Enter your SwiftFox login details to authorise the add-in.

Creating a post from an email

1. Open the email you want to capture.
2. Select the SwiftFox icon. The add-in automatically captures the sender's details, the date and the email content.
3. Adjust any of these details before you post if you need to.
4. Leave Attach Body ticked to include the full email content on the post, or untick it if you don't want the email body attached.
5. Select Create Post.

What happens in SwiftFox

Switch over to SwiftFox and the post appears against the contact. From there you can add comments or create tasks off the post to keep your team moving.

Note: this guide is based on the SwiftFox Gmail add-in walkthrough and has not yet been re-verified against the live Gmail add-in. The Gmail add-in may not include the newer options available in the Outlook plugin (selecting between multiple matched people, creating a new person from the add-in, and choosing the environment / tenant / circle). Verify against the live add-in before relying on those.
