Campaigner Website Enablement - Back end
Things have changed
00:00:00:22 - 00:00:27:26
Now let's jump into the back end. This is where all your website management happens. On the left hand side, you'll see your website name at the top of the content tree. Here in our demo it's labeled “Campaigner Theme”. But when your website is set up, this will display your own name or organisation. The top level item is where you can find your home page content, as well as our global properties for items like your navigation bar and footer.
00:00:27:34 - 00:00:55:24
Below the website name, you'll see all your individual pages listed out about, electorate, news, volunteer, contact, events, privacy and legals, donate, and a few others. Some pages also have sub pages nested beneath them. You can see that here in the Electorate page which has an expand arrow. Click that and you'll see additional pages grouped underneath it. This is great for organising related content together.
00:00:55:26 - 00:01:17:34
Each page has its own icon. The standard profile icon represents a regular content page. This is the most common type you'll work with. You might also see a calendar icon which indicates an events page. There's also some website setting items which are a bit unique and we'll leave that for now. This content tree is how you navigate to the different pages on your website.
00:01:17:36 - 00:01:40:06
Simply click on any page to open its content and start making changes. Let's select the about page. It's a good example of what a standard content page looks like in the back end. Under each page, you'll see a number of tabs along the top. For most of your day to day work, you'll only need the content tab. This is where you can see and edit the actual content on the page.
00:01:40:10 - 00:02:01:42
Within the content tab, you'll find what's called the grid. The grid is where all the building blocks for your page live. Here on the about page, you can see the heading block that creates the Meet Cassie hero section, and below that the container with the My Background content, including the image block and the rich text block with the biography.
00:02:02:02 - 00:02:18:14
If we select Save and Preview, we'll switch over to the front end and you can see exactly how those blocks in the grid map to the two column layout, with the photo on the left and the text on the right. Everything you see on the live site is built from these blocks in the back end.
