027-02 Conduct a Visit
Things have changed
00:00:04:20 - 00:00:18:35
You've built your visit list. Brilliant. Now we'll run the visit exactly as you use it in the field, explaining each element the moment you need it. Need a refresher on creating the list? See our earlier lesson on creating a visit.
00:00:18:39 - 00:00:38:38
In this lesson, we'll cover opening your visit and navigating the address list, recording conversations, and completing surveys. Selecting outcomes and adding address tags and creating follow up tasks on the spot.
00:00:38:42 - 00:01:04:23
Open visits and select the Start Visit button on your visit. In our case, we'll select Northside Saturday, Doorknock. You will land on your first street. Addresses a grouped by suburb, ordered A to Z by street and split into odds and evens so you can walk cleanly without backtracking. Each one also has a tag for the status of this address for this specific visit.
00:01:04:35 - 00:01:27:11
So if you're going in a group, you can be sure you aren't doubling up. Select the first address to begin. As soon as you select an address. The middle card will display all the contacts listed at this address, as well as any tag someone who has previously visited the address may have added. The star indicates which contacts were specifically listed as targets in the visit list.
00:01:27:15 - 00:01:55:30
Everyone else shares the same address. This is helpful because while Sam might have been the target, their partner Taylor could answer the door so you can select them and log their responses instead. If you notice something you care about later, such as gated access, a dog on the property, a language preference, add an address tag right away.
00:01:55:34 - 00:02:22:25
If the person who answered is listed, select their name. If someone else answered, choose someone else. This keeps the record tied to the right person or to the address when needed. You'll see a quick snapshot of their profile, including any recent interactions. Select the profile icon to view their full profile. If the conversation creates an action, add a task to the profile while the details are fresh.
00:02:22:29 - 00:02:44:05
Fill out and submit the form in the right panel. Once complete, the address will be marked as complete and a post will be written to the activity feed and the contacts profile. When you're done, move to the next address on the same street. The built in ordering handles the route.
00:02:44:09 - 00:03:10:13
Not every knock reaches someone, so choose the outcome that reflects what happened. Unsuccessful when you tried but didn't make contact, helpful for coverage reporting or not attempted when you intentionally skipped an address, for example due to safety or a route change. Be consistent so tallies and maps stay reliable when you finish the street or want an overview return to visits.
00:03:10:17 - 00:03:22:31
The table shows totals by status; total addresses, successful. unsuccessful, unattempted and not yet visited. Decide whether to do another pass or switch channels for the remainder.
00:03:22:35 - 00:03:39:17
And that's it. You've mastered the art of the doorknock. Pick your addresses, chat with whoever answers, fill in what matters and jot down follow ups while they're fresh. SwiftFox quietly captures it all in the background so that you can stay focused on the real conversations.
00:03:39:21 - 00:03:42:13
Now go make some connections. Good luck.
